Digital Glasses can be built to varying levels of accuracy and detail depending on the use case.

Tiers

Tier 1: Measurements

Source photography is taken with more strict guidelines to minimize distortion, provide scale reference, and capture baseline accurately.

SKUs made at this Tier can also be used for Rendered Product Imagery (Tier 2) and VTO (Tier 3).

For the creation of our Digital Glasses for Measurements, we require two calibration images for each SKU with a graph paper for scale and camera calibration. Take one frame top-down image (shown below) and one bottom-up image (opposite of top-down view, with the bottom of glasses closer to the camera) taken on graph paper. This graph paper is a calibration object in the scene which facilitates the validation of the camera parameters and pose estimation. The graph paper in the following link (http://print-graph-paper.com/details/5mm/a4/portrait/black) can be printed and placed underneath the glasses on the table.

We require 8 images for a full 360 view of the entire frame. 2 of these images are the calibration images explained above. Additional photography is welcome and helps to more accurately digitize the frame.

Tier 2: Rendered Product Imagery

With additional source photography, more accurate SKUs are produced from all angles (360° + more). This serves as an alternative to traditional website photography.

SKUs made at this Tier can also be used VTO (Tier 3).

For the creation of Rendered Product Imagery, the following is required:

  • Frame frontal image
  • Both temple images (if only one temple is available, we will assume symmetry, but this impact accuracy)
  • Back image
  • Interior right temple
  • Interior left temple
  • Top-down image

6 images that capture a 360 view of the entire frame and one top-down photo is preferred. Additional photography is welcome and helps to more accurately digitize the frame.

Tier 3: Virtual Try-On and Frame Recommendations (Standard)

This is our high-quality SKU to accurately represent frames from the angles viewed in a VTO.

The extracted frame data extracted supports the evolution of Frame Recommendations.

For the creation of our Digital Glasses for Try-On, the following is required:

  • Frame frontal image
  • One temple image
  • The other temple image (if only one temple is available, we will assume symmetry)
  • Top-down image (preferred, but not required)

Minimizing Distortion

All photography must be taken on the same plane as the glasses and meet the following requirements to minimize distortion (i.e. warping) and result in digital glasses with inaccurate shape and measurements.

Other Requirements

  • Each image file size can be no more than 5MB
  • Ensure imagery includes EXIF data (in particular focal length)
  • Ensure light of frames in photography matches how you would like the frames to be portrayed in the digital assets (e.g., backlit versus natural lighting)
  • The number of photos for each SKU must be the same
  • The naming convention must be consistent across SKUs and angles (e.g., 123456_1, 123456_2, 123456_3)
  • The cropping and size of frames must be consistent
  • Images must be provided as .jpg or .png
  • Please provide the information about the camera and lens used for the photography (Tier 1)
